Frogmore Stew

This is an old fashion south carolina crab boil. Everyone does their recipe differently. Its simple & fairly quick to make considering the amount of food you prepare. Only downside is if you use king crab as I did, this can get on the expensive side. I used a large stock pot. 1 bottle Sam Adams (boston logger) & 2 quarts chicken broth. I added Zataran's crab boil in a bag seasoning, & brought the liquid to a boil. First I added red potatoes & corn on the cob (cut into pieces). After 15 minutes of that on a rolling boil, I added king crab legs, cut hot links, & frozen jumbo shrimp (cooked, cleaned, & tail on). Simmered that for an hour & it was done. The house smelled like a gumbo day or something, Lol.

I know its called a stew, but really its just a boil. Everything comes out w/ a great cajon flavor & the family just couldn't get enough. While this expensive dish will not be a regular, it will be a PERFECT staple for summer get togethers outside or a 4th of July dinner. You know, the ones that are served at 2pm & you end up going back for 3rds and even a 4th plate? Yeah, those kinds of days.

Left Behind

FML. I finally found a great guy that rocked my world and he leaves for Afghanistan. I'm trying to hang in there... but damn. This sucks! Its hard to even have fun anywhere. I'm always secretly sad, cuz I wish he was with me. He'll be back sometime in late Sept or early Oct. But already ppl are asking me if he will be going on another deployment! WTF? Can't I just look forward to him coming back.

Honestly, I used to hate on military wives. I'd see those stickers that say "the hardest part of the Marine Corps is being a Marine Wife" and I'd want to gag. I was like "gimme a break!" But wow... over the last month I have realized that it is much easier to leave, than be left behind. Goodness! The only thing that really keeps me sane is thinking about the day when he will come back. How happy I will be.

.... and I chose this picture for sentimental value. He came to me at a point in my life that was VERY difficult... and was my "protector" =)

I MISS YOU TIMMY!

SeaWorld @ Night

Before I start lemme apologize for these awful pictures, (I wonder if
the Sidekick II takes better pictures than the LS?) my camera's battery
ran dead so I only had my phone. But it was awesome. Energetic, tons of
kids, place was packed. I recommend for everyone to check it out. The
only disappointing thing (for me) was leaving with a sense of sadness
for the whales who were taken from the wild and brought there. I'm
surprised they haven't had more attacks from those whales. A large,
wild, beautiful killer like that could never truly be content living in
a pool after its had a taste of freedom. And now its too late to return
them to the wild... ... ... I wonder why there is not an international
law forbidding the capture of any whale for any purpose other than
rescue. If they breed them in captivity that's one thing, but most of
them were not. Most of them were purchased from Orca Hunters. Shame
Shame... But... ... the show was nice =P

RIP Marvin Joshua Hodges

Friday I found out that one of my oldest and closest friends died. He
was only 25. He was one of the best people I have ever know. His heart
was close to God, and was the type of man who would do anything for
anyone. They say the good die young... but its just not fair. I'm doing
okay... but just trying to figure out why God would let him die. He just
graduated, wanted to be a pastor... he had so much more to do. He would
have touched so many more lives... he was the best of us...

Rest In Peace My Friend... I will see you again in paradise. I love you.
Have always loved you. You will be missed.

Almost An Auntie

Last weekend I went to visit my sister in Vegas. She is about to have
her first baby any day =] I know I have other nieces and nephews, but
none from siblings that I actually grew up with. So this feels like I am
going to be an Aunt for the first time! I am SO used to being the one in
the hospital having the baby while everyone else gets to "enjoy" the
outcome. Lol, how refreshing to finally be on the other side. I'm gonna
try to get out there next weekend too. Hopefully she will hv her baby
then. The plan is to take Christian to Circus, Circus... if that goes
down, I will definitely post pictures and a longer blog. MUAH!!

The Charger Game

Chargers Vs. Seahawks, my first live football game. I know, its not that
I'm not a true fan (trust me I am) but I'm just cheap as all hell. My
friend had to actually put his uniform on and do flag detail to get
these tickets for free. Lol, and he doesn't even like the Chargers.
Sweet, I know. What would I do w/out my friends? =] Anyway, the Chargers
lost. And although my friends said they hv never seen me so upset, I
actually had an awesome time! Will definitely be going more often!

The Best Baby

Grace, she just some immunizations yesterday, and like most babies, gets
a fever the next day (today). My other kids were always cranky and cried
the whole night, or at least until the Tylenol kicks in. But not Grace,
my little trooper. Here she is with a fairly high fever, a cold, rolled
washcloth behind her neck, and a cold wet towel on her body.
Uncomfortable, shivering cold, and probably with a throbbing headache
from the fever and still, no crying. No fussing. Just chill. Like she
knows she has to get through this. How blessed am I to have such a cool
baby. My boys are rambunctious to say the least. How refreshing is she,
how ironic is her name, Grace. However, maybe I should knock on wood and
pray that this rolls over into her teenage years. Oh well, for now I
will enjoy her.

Fire Across the Street

This is a fire across the street from my house. Not half as bad as last
years, but it's causing me concern. Especially since the wind is blowing
this way. Considering sending my kids to my sister's house if it starts
to rain ashes.
